Forgot about the 130/135mm thing but it's a steel frame so could be reset.
The Shimano non-series RS300 and RS400 hubs come in 28H¹, and since they still use M10×1 steel axles in the rear it would be easy to drop a longer axle in to make it up to 135mm and gain from the reduced dish.
¹In theory. It's actually a bugger to find any for sale in this country.

I meant the hubs look like my cartridge bearing novatechs. Got the terminology mixed up... Can vouch for the XT hubs being well sealed, have commuted on a pair for years 😀
