I want the magic I had, and I'm totally unconvinced changing the recipe is the way to go.
Amen.
Dont go disc on this bossman, build another disc bike.
If you are tight on budget maybe go record instead of super record or even chorus, its not going to make a world of diff compared to if you downgrade wheels or frame.

Also... lightness. It does make a difference to the feel. The whole disc + electronic does weigh more. Not significantly, but it does add up and you can feel it on long excursions.
That sounds daft, I know. I'm not a weight weenie, but there was something the Serotta had in the way it felt that beat every other bike I tried, and I have ridden electronic and disc bikes, and recently.
I want the magic I had, and I'm totally unconvinced changing the recipe is the way to go. Besides, all of the above cost more and I'll struggle to compromise and shave budget to get the frame I want anyway... no point wish-listing things I'm unconvinced about when it all adds more £$ and forces compromise elsewhere. The budget is £8k, for this type of bike that's not quite enough, I'll stay classic, mechanical, rim brake, clean.
