I think I can go lighter for the TABR because most of it is hot, not cold, but I still want a warmer or at least zip-sealable one for the UK. I'm planning on doing some/a 1000k audax before xmas and probably some longer audaxes after xmas while training for TABR when I will want to sleep, prefer to save money on hotels and the weather will be shit. Basically trying to experience more shite in a bivvy so I'm more comfortable when I use it more often in the US.
Also, anything I use I want to have used before so I can't buy one on arrival, even if cheaper. I'm not making the same mistake of using new kit.

It's for riding bikes around the country, not climbing mountains. There will be 3000m mountains in the US but I won't be sleeping at the top of them and it will be June so hopefully not -30degC.
