2016-09-13 Rider down, Stamford Hill/Cazenove Road, N16

The message below was posted to a local mailing list I'm on, and the victim asked me to repost it here. If you were around to witness this incident and would like to help, PM me and I'll put you in touch with them. I've also pointed the 'What to do in case of an accident' thread out to them.

I am writing in the hope that one of you might have witnessed or knows anyone who witnessed an accident that occurred on Tuesday this week (13/9) at about 4:30pm on Stamford Hill by the turning to Cazenove Road.

I was the cyclist in this instance, standing still in the middle of Stamford Hill, on the right-turning lane to Cazenove Road, when a car came out of Cazenove Road that wanted to turn left. It drove straight into me, although I was way above his turning route.

I don't really remember much apart from that, I was in shock I think. There were lots of lovely people immediately there to help me, an ambulance came, I was led to the side of the road and checked out in the ambulance - they gave me some ice packs for my grazes and swollen ankle. I also briefly spoke to the driver of the car who was clearly in shock himself. But I then just hobbled home, all I wanted was to lie down in my bed. On my way I saw that lots of people and police had congregated at the south side of Cazenove Road, right at the end to Stamford Hill but it did not occur to me to go over the road to talk to them or do anything about it.

I was lucky and came away with a sprained ankle and some grazes and aches. But I would still have liked the car driver's details, if only to let him know that I am mostly OK and I also wanted to thank the lovely lady with two kids who witnessed the accident and was really lovely and helpful. Unfortunately, the police seem to not (or not yet) have a report and want me to report the incident. But I do not really want to report the accident to police (and, because I have no details of anyone whatsoever wouldn't even be able to), I just would like to see the report, to know what happened, whether I did anything wrong, and to be able to get in touch with driver and witness.

So if you have witnessed the accident or know anyone that has I would be really grateful if they could get in touch. Also, if you were in a similar situation before and know how to get the report from the police (I assume they must have one, as they were at the scene, talking to the witnesses and the driver) I would be grateful if you could let me know how to go about it.
