Yeah, its a balance of having a wide enough lens to get the longest exposure without getting star trails and finding the sweet spot with the ISO.
I got these with a 6D @ iso 6400 & 10000 and 40mm f/2.8 - the lens being the limiting factor in exposure time.
Then lots of fuckery in Lightroom ;)
