Its probably more to do with repeated use hence rust can't form/settle.

I saw that a lot in NYC. Good quality frames with the paintwork all torn up where they all lock their bikes with bare chains. No rust though; I think it's drier enough there that their bikes don't rot away.
NYC is quite humid.... but more to the point, what you think the inside of your bike looks like? certainly it's not painted, and i doubt you used frame saver. also example in point is aluminum.
