Actually, the article claims Direct Energie but it was Roompot I was thinking of. I'm not sure if DE have been running discs all season. Roompot definitely said in an interview they'd had to adapt their cars and vans and stuff and that each rider was getting 3 bikes for the year and they all had to be disc brakes.
This makes it sound like DE changed just for P-R:

Would be great in the mud.
As for why - the team is using disc wheels in ALL their races. They had to adapt their cars and stuff to suit the new bikes so it's an all or nothing change to discs.
