I did never understand why Raleigh went to the expense of Gold Plating a frame but rather than opting for a handbuilt Ilkeston 753 with a top Campy Group, opted for a stock 531c frame with lowly 105 group? Still a interesting bit of history and that is genuine gold plate. If you could seperate the gold would be a good few Grams! To gold plate a bike like that now your looking at silly money....
