Contemporary 'media'

I work in "The Media"...have for over 12 years...used to work in TV news, now work for Fairfax, which is ironic because they are neither fair nor worry about facts (yeah I know but they don't use fax either).
I currently work with some photogs that have an average of 20 years experience, and have covered some major stories and won many awards.
The general feeling from the news desk is that "any pic will do, take it with your iPhone, got to get it online quick, oh and get a video...that we can attach advertising to"
They take stories from any muppet who sends "content" in, they use some absolute shit quality photos, and the clickbait...
We recently had a compulsory "roadshow" which was to indoctrinate us into the company mindset "content AND quality journalism is what we want"

yep, just shoot me now and be done with it....the dumbing down of mankind is accelerating dramatically

I hate my job, but I am fucking good at it.
I hate what the media has become, desperately trying to be hip and quirky, down with the kids and up for lols.

And yes, I recognize the irony that the very system I oppose affords me the luxury of biting the hand that feeds. But that’s exactly why priviledged fucks like me should feel obliged to whine and kick and scream
