I have the same outlook, but sometimes (and the manufacturers are to blame) it just isn't economic.
I have a "breaking for spares" box and if you wait long enough, they'll be someone after an essential thingummyjig and it's nice to be able to reply "yours for the cost of postage"!

found one for £20 delivered , just weighing that up against a brand new veloce mech. seems a lot for such a small part but prefer to repair where possible . The other version of the part looks very different , not sure it will fit the record bolt . Hoping someone here will come up with a donor mech !
