Absolutely no need at all for a light bike. Biggest race this will see is Richmond Park 3 Lap challenge :)
Weight is more for fun than anything else. Hasnt actually cost that much this far and could probably lose 700 grams with about 400 quid.
New wheels could lose as much as 500g alone. Cutting steerer and seatpost could save around 50/60g. New bars would save 100g. A few Ti bolts, latex tubes and new rear tyre should be sub 7kg
