  • Anyone here able to give some recommendations on Eye Culture in Bethnal? I have a stack of undeveloped film that has been lurking in my fridge for erm, two years, and a lot of it needs pushing. Don't know what the cheapest option is though, as they don't have a website - develop and get the smallest prints and scan the good ones myself, or ask if they'll scan them for me (if they even do that?) Otherwise I can post them somewhere, but I like the idea of supporting my local developer.

  • I wouldn't rely on a commercial service to scan my negatives, especially if some of them are problematic. Commercial studio might be better equipped, but no one will devote the time and effort to optimize each negative on an individual basis; businesses normally don't do that unless paid handsomely, only an enthusiast will do it for the love of it (in a perverse twist in the English-speaking world the term "amateur" which comes from "love" got loaded with negative connotations while "professional", which is often a by word for the routine and the mediocre, with positive ones...) .

  • I'll likely rescan anything that's worth the effort, but I need a way to just see what I've got first - we're talking a over a dozen rolls of film. On my equipment, scanning all of that would take a month.

    Nicely put

  • got loaded with negative connotations

I see what you did there. :)
