London Velo.
London Velo is a bike shop café opening in Deptford, South East London. We will be a friendly local shop and will build up strong reputation with our customers for honest advice, quality products and excellent customer service. We are looking to fill the position of senior mechanic to work closely with the management team.
Given the shop is new, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to have input into the design of the workshop space as well as the wider bike service offerings we will provide.
Job description.
We are looking for an experienced mechanic to join the business. We need someone who is passionate about cycling and has the technical expertise in both bike repair, building and set up. You will be responsible for servicing and repairs on a wide range of bikes, including assessing repairs as they come through the door and advising customers as to the best course of action. This requires an in-depth knowledge of parts and their compatibility. You will also be responsible for liaising with the customer regarding their repair as well as general bike queries. Strong communication skills are essential as is the ability to manage and schedule the works. We will be offering initial training for our own in-house procedures, including getting you up to speed with our point of sale and stock control system. There will also be future opportunities to further your mechanical skills. Your skills.
You will need to be an experienced and talented mechanic. Qualifications are important, but not essential. Parts and accessory knowledge is an integral part of the role.
You will need to have excellent customer service skills. Being presentable, polite and passionate is essential. You need to be able to clearly communicate both with customers and other members of staff.
You need to be reliable with good time keeping. There will be some early starts and weekend work required.

This position is to start in May 2015, although as mentioned ahead of that the successful candidate will have the opportunity to have input into the design of the workshop.
Salary will be competitive depending on experience, and will include incentives aligned with the success of the business to reflect the importance of the role.
