Was cycling home on A2 southbound at ~8:45, just before New Cross road, outside the tower blocks opposite Aldi, saw a rider lying on the white solid white line, with his touring bike with panniers underneath him.
There was a parked Benz next to him, with the driver's door slightly open. Rider got up on his own, saying nothing was broken, but was obviously shaken and shaking. Bike looked fine, just scratches to the Lizard Skins bar tape (ouch!) and the front wheel slightly bent.
The driver, while still apologising and offered him a ride home, was reluctant to give details, so rider called 999 and I waited with him for the ambulance.
Ambulance and then motocop arrived, then rider's parents (apparently his wife is out of town) too. Policeman took a long time talking to the driver then to the radio. Then 2 more cops arrived and started taking the driver's fingerprints and he got a bit agitated at this point. Father says the bike is more injured than the son, and "so expensive". I leave my details to a policeman and shoot off.
