Cycle Training UK (CTUK), a not-for profit workers cooperative based in London that exists to promote cycling, is recruiting a Head of Finance. The successful applicant will offer financial expertise and guidance to the Board, management team and members of the cooperative.
You will be responsible for
Budgeting and management reporting
Preparation and effective presentation of financial reports, identifying salient points, to Heads of Department, Board and Members’ meetings
Timely preparation of monthly management accounts, supporting bookkeeping staff in calculation of significant accruals
Supporting Project Managers and Heads of Department in preparation and outline documentation of job and overhead budget estimates
Reviewing financial performance of significant projects in consultation with project managers
Financial accounting / reporting and taxation
Responsibility for effective controls over accounting data and reporting
Supporting external accountants in preparation, review, presentation and filing of annual small company accounts and Corporation Tax return
Ongoing review of compliance with requirements for VAT registration
Payroll
Overseeing changes to payroll in respect of joiners and leavers, including calculation of final pay
Processing payroll year end, including submissions to HMRC and generation of annual pay summary forms
Accounting systems administration
Administration and ownership (including configuration, user permissions and training, report design/development, data backup and cost/benefits evaluation) for the following:
Xero (accounting, cloud-based) including feeds/interfaces
WorkflowMax (time recording and job management, cloud-based)
Cloud-based payroll system (MyPAYE)
You will manage the Finance Officer who is responsible for:
Payroll
Preparation and execution of the monthly payroll and associated payments and accounting, including RTI submissions
Administration of the payroll system
Administration of the timesheet system
With the Instructor Manager, maintaining accounts of staff overtime balances
Bank accounting
Ensuring timely reconciliations of bank, credit card and payment service accounts, and managing instructions to and correspondence with the bank
Accounts receivable
Review of aged debtors report and taking appropriate and effective action
Accounts payable
Achieve accurate and timely processing of purchase orders, supplier invoices and bank payments.
Person specification
You will have strategic and operational financial management experience, an interest in working as part of a cooperative and prefer using a bicycle as your main form of transport. You will be able to work from home and will be available to come to the office to attend meetings as required.
