  • If you're going on some self-supported adventure, with no chance of picking up food along the way (think racing through Alaska or a day ride in Wales...) then dehydrated stuff is probably the way to go. I'd just make sure you've tried them and figured out which you like/body agrees with before discovering the 20 sachets of apple crumble and custard desert actually tastes like cardboard and turns your guts inside out after a few mouthfuls. A few brands offer 'high energy' versions of their meals too if you need the extra calories.

    Otherwise just pick stuff up as/when you can. Cheese, cured meats, bread, veg, small tins of fruit/beans etc. all easy to pick up and stuff in panniers/bags/a small feedbag and then just keep rolling along...
