Once you have it set how you wish, make a copy of the settings.fit file and then you can replace if you ever need to do another reset.

Same applies to the totals.fit, locations.fit and device.fit.

Useful info thanks.

Irritatingly I did the hard reset, but got exactly the same error after today's race. Any other suggestions or should I just try and send it back to Garmin and demand a new one?
