I'm doing up an 80s Holdsworth frame, and need to find a 1" threaded headset that has a stack height of around 37mm (I only have the frame and forks, no previous headset to go by so give or take a mm?).
I really like the look of the Velo Orange Grand Cru headsets in chrome, as they match the finish I'm going for, but unfortunately their stack height is 42mm. My first question is am I right in assuming I can't use this as it is too tall?
If not, can anyone recommend anything similar that would fit the bill? I'm preferably looking for sealed bearings too. Not fussed about it being actual vintage, but nice 'n shiny, relatively good quality, and preferably no more than the grand cru ones ~£40.
I've seen some a9 strong light ones with a 37mm stack height but the finish doesn't look so great. Not quite the chrome I'm looking for, but maybe I need to compromise?
