• Hi all,

Thought it might be a good place to ask this, but apologies if it's come up before. I'm currently doing a lo pro TT build (an old 753 frame originally made for Boardman - it's gorgeous), and I'm trying to decide what stem to use. I've always been perfectly happy with quill stems on my road bikes, but I've heard some complain of slippage issues when using tri bars with a quill stem. Is it possible that an ahead stem could clamp better by design?

Clearly it must have been good enough 20 years ago, but does this reflect anyone's experience/could there be any truth to this? I'm not that fussed either way aesthetically; just want the best tool for the job.

    Cheers.
