  • It's just the Editors pick.

    Grand Budapest Hotel

My face hurt from grin gurning. I loved it.

Boyhood was brilliant too – but I'm a Linklater fan. The trailer made it look really sappy but it was genuinely touching.

Does The Wind was 2013 but got into UK cinemas in 2014 didn't it? Either way... it's an epic and I need to watch it again soon. Magical.

    A great year I think.

The only over-rated film in their for me was Godzilla. Pacific Rim did monsters better, owning it's own ridiculousness and was just more fun... although 2013(?).

  • I watched The Wind Rises in May 2014 in the cinema, so 2014.

Fantastic film, it was lovely that it retain some of the Ghibli's charm (unlike Grave of the Fireflies which I very much like to erase from memory).

  • Did you see Patema Inverted?

It's not quite in the same league, you never forget you're watching a cartoon. But it has got to be seen.

    Utterly, fucketty, bonkers.

  • I thought Grave of the Fireflies was quite good, as in realistically grim.

But it's not as uplifting as most of his other work for sure...like watching Threads you just feel a bit...down/unpleasant/nullified after.
