had mine for about 3 years, no problems at all. I don't use mine a lot though as i don't use it for work, but i've had no issues. Zips are all good.
it isn't a hard plastic like it looks, it feels a little rubbery and has a bit of flex, but it's also quite strong. I basically have no worries about it rattling around my bag. I defo wouldn't go for a soft case if i were you. Anyway, looks like john lewis has them, check it out if you pass by. I may have bought mine in the apple store, can't quite remember.
