The Dunwich Dynamo is a ride that has evolved and grown over the years. It started, apparently, when some couriers, at a loss what to do one Saturday night, decided to ride to the coast and pedalled through the night from Hackney to Dunwich, 125 miles away. Each year the ride has been repeated and each year more riders take part.
That's a myth. I think Barry Mason invented it. The truth is more prosaic. Patrick Field and a couple of friends used to do quite a lot of night riding out that way and decided to make an organised ride out of it at some point. It's a nice myth, though, and it's worth confusing another generation with it. :)
