  • If there's a possibility of original paint underneath then I honestly wouldn't go for wet n dry paper first, it's too difficult, and also white spirit won't do much to any of the more robust DIY paints. It does look a little like matte Hammerite or some other brand of outdoors metal paint.

    Cellulose thinners will take off spray-can paint and Hammerite without damaging the original paint underneath, but do check somewhere discrete. However it'll probably make the original paint a little milky-looking, so afterwards you can revive the finish by using T-Cut (careful over the decals, it's a mild abrasive) and some sort of car wax to give it some shine.
