On Saturday's racing: an old timer was talking to me about how in the past many cities had their own league because there were so many clubs, I said it's a shame the sport is just hanging on nowadays - even though it was the national over 50s final meeting I only knew because I spotted a brief mention by chance, and that's someone who is into the sport. How is the general public supposed to know and so get into the sport and spread the word etc. The meeting that followed, Midlands v The North was excellent yet I only knew on the day because the announcer mentioned it. How many fans would have loved to have seen it?
