I'm in the middle of building up an 80s/700c Holdsworth with Shimano 300 groupset.
Have run into an issue with the gear cable to the rear mech. Here's a photo:
So, the inner of the outer casing (1) is poking through the brazed-on metal thingy (2) and sticking out the other side (3).
I have some plastic cable stopper in my parts bin at home but none fit inside the metal thingy (2) so I figured the cable would just do the job itself - it didn't.
Anyone know what I need to stop this happening (or what I should ask for at a lbs - not sure I'll have much hope with the shops around Brighton/Hove though).
Any help advice much appreciated. I did try to use the search but, after scrolling through every post on the forum, didn't see anything that seemed a good match - huge apologies if I missed another post that covers this already though.
