A price is only recommended, not required.
However it is generally a good idea to include one, because a) that's the first thing you'll be asked and b) your thread will soon fill up with offers of "used chewing gum" etc.
If it is a particularly rare or unusual item that you really can't value, then Veloccio has specifically stated that asking for offers is fine.
However there is a thin line between asking for offers and an auction (which is forbidden), so try and give some sort of idea of what you would accept, or eBay is the best place.
