As for expensive bikes? Ooh no. Probably reviews by people with BMWs sitting in their garages. Every bike owned by someone in the first world could be considered expensive if you wanted to get picky. Why should it make a difference. Mike Hall cycled around the world on a bike worth less than one of my wheels.
