  • I would not question BB30 on stiffness, but rather on whether it is appropriate in a country with a wet climate. The bearings are largely unprotected, both from the outside and from the inside (water somehow makes it to the BB shell). To that, you have to add that BB shell machining for press fit type bearings is often less than perfect, leading to misfits... it seems to me largely a lottery... you can get a good system that fits well or you can get a bad one... in the latter case you won't get a replacement under warranty, as it's often hard to prove that the bearings die quickly because they are misaligned... if you have a bad cartridge, you throw it in the neighbour's garden and get a new one for 10 pounds
