i would lacquer them once shiny but dont go to armoutex for a raw finish as whatever they do to the frame turns it dull grey.
Yeah have seen that, so far bits of the frame are staying shiney and I like it that way. Have had bits of shiney metal powder coated with just clear coat and the parts came out shiney. Was thinking just clear laquer after a wipe down with thinners. Have some plasticote clear lacquer so was thinking of doing one frame in that.
There is a couple of places I use in coventyr and one swanley who are cheaper than armourtex but not as quick a turn around.
That would be the phosphate passivation, I think it's a throwback to their industrial roots. It adds to the corrosion protection and provides a good key for the powder coat, but it isn't pretty.
