OK, I appreciate that. I think in my instance I'm OK though, every weekend the bike is cleaned and I remove the seatpost to put an older longer one in to clamp in the stand. After washing the bike then sits nearly all of Saturday and all of Sunday with no seatpost. Hopefully this should make it OK. No?
My intention in blocking the holes was to prevent water ingres.
