Can't they design vents which are covered with a smooth surfaced permeable substance, so you get venting plus aero? Maybe taut goretex panels or something?

great P-N stage today, had everything I like in a flat stage, attack, crosswinds, break in peloton, the ante upped as the lead group tries to maintain the gap, desperation stakes in the group behind try to close, the race awash with tension with 50k to go.

The insane pace at the front. How big is Gaudin? He's a beast, bigger than Clancy, now I understand why he won the prologue. The various sprint trains gather, the pace cranks up another notch then the taps are released, the sprint is on, the French win...again.

And Renshaw chickened out of that gap. Finger wag.

Just seen the video of it. Looks horrenous, pretty much landed directly on his face, maybe his shoulder / elbow took a bit of the weight. Let's hope he enjoys his meals through a straw.

Eugh, this Bouhanni stuff makes me shiver. I had my first high speed crash in August and was lucky to walk away almost completely unscathed. Even so, every single ride since, even commuting, I have a vision of me biting the pavement. Really hope it clears up when I start training properly again in April because right now I start to feel queasy when I get above 35kph on the flats, let alone hills.

Bouhanni's crash shows the danger of road marking. His back wheel just washed out as he touched a line on the road. Ouchie.

Strange that Wiggins is doing so little racing. A cameo in Oman, now he's doing nothing until the Volta y Catalunya, with the team sending Porte to go for overall at P-N

It looks to me he was going in hot. but not too hot. He's on the outside of a team mate and as such tried to reduce the angle of turn to avoid smashing the curb..

This maybe. Sky went in last year trying to get the team used to winning and Wiggins used to being in yellow for long periods. Perhaps they reckon he's used to it now and are instead trying the same exercise with Froome, but personally I'd like him (Wiggins) to at least lay down a marker for the season.
