2012-03-06 - Rider Down/Fatality, Robin Hood Way Kingston

Kingston Guardian reporting an 8 year old knocked down and killed today by a taxi as they cycled from school.

So sorry to hear about this. RIP littlun. My thoughts are with his family and also with the cab driver who regardless of circumstances did not set out to kill an eight year old that day. So sad all round. xx

Last week, there was another severe crash involving a 10 year old cyclist. He was hit by a car and airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Fortunately, he seems to be in stable conditions.

A very rare accidental death verdict. Interesting that the police testified that the driver was within the speed limit and could not have avoided the impact. Tragic all round.
