Ah, it's a much cleaner look now. All is working on IE7/IE8 on XP and of course Chrome/Safari on the Mac. It also works well on Windows Phone 7.5 too.

I kept restarting web servers and such.

Clearing out memory caches and the like.

I've just closed all those windows, should be good now.

I like it too, but I did also like the fact that there was a default set always there to quickly jump between live update/search and subscribed.
#possibleludditeafraidofchange??

I've never hit the dreaded Mark All Read button but I fear I will now when going for the search page, especially with an iphone/fat fingers combination. Maybe a blank line could be put in to space Mark All Read a bit further down?

The maximum posts per page message messes with it slightly, you can't click the bottom three links on the drop down when it's there because they overlap.

Totally minor, probably rarely happen

I kinda feel that too.

But let's see how we go for a week before I knee jerk.

I mean the message you get when a page is full but it adds the new posts to the bottom anyway, it sorts itself out onto a new page when you reload doesn't it? I saw it on the what's everybody up to thread.

Also, will you be adding current projects to the drop down?

Adding CP is on the ToDo, I needed to change the nav first.

Still going to remove something to put it on there. On small mobile screens that drop down is basically close to the size of the screen.

Meanwhile I will keep a tab for new posts and subscribed threads each open, or even better, I get another iphone to change between new posts and subscribed threads.

I'm still getting inconsistent capitalization and redundant hyphens in the title link.

It's definitely happening with Chrome on Windows 7, and with Dolphin on Android; BTW.

Mobile device? Or laptop pointer?

Once people are used to the drop downs in general, I will look at the organisation of them to see if shuffling them around helps improve it further.

Not sure whether you're joking or not Velocio, but even without earning any money EVERYTHING you use for your business is tax deductible.... If there is no income you won't get tax off, but with a good accountant you'll build up a nice sized tax loss so that in the first year or so of earning money you get to offset this as tax due.

As you've paid tax in this year, with your proper job, you might start with a tax rebate... Check this out with an accountant and get shopping before 4th April.

It's working fine on my Blackberry btw.

After saying it was fine, I'm having some issues with the today's posts dropdown menu... For some reason it's very difficult to select and the touch screen keep wanting to select new posts or forums instead... It's almost as if the selection area for today's posts is too small... Does that make any sense?

It is too small.

But, that's true of the fonts on the whole site.

The average size of fonts on the site is 10pt and sometimes the fonts are also defined in pixels.

If you know about web typography and the available units ( http://kyleschaeffer.com/best-practi...s-px-vs-pt-vs/ ), you'll know that these are the worst possible sizes to use.

Basically, pixels and points are fixed sized, and as the resolution of a screen increases the perceived size is reduced.

As the resolution has been increasing gradually, we've all become accustomed to reading smaller fonts, but it's very wrong.

Fonts should be sized relative to the screen size. A web site with fonts sized in points is using a print design theory that doesn't translate to the screen.

To correct it, what I should do is reset the font across the whole site to 1em;

This would have the effect for most people of increasing the font size dramatically. It would be a huge perceived change.

Because it would be such a big perceived change I haven't done it.

If those on desktops and laptop want to imagine what this is like: CTRL+'+' to zoom the size of the page. You want to be viewing at roughly 120% of what you're currently viewing.

If people can convince me that they'd be happy with such a font size change, then I would do it everywhere and that would fix it for all mobiles (which tend to have a higher resolution per inch than most monitors).

TS - even with my fat fingers I never had an issue on my Samsung. Get a stylus.

Same here.

If you remember the fuss when you upgraded the site BITD (~2008), everyone freaked out before they accepted it and moved on.

Ah, found a bug… on a users profile page the menu falls behind the tabs. This is in Safari so I'd assume it affects most browsers.

I'd have thought adding "z-index: 1;" to ".dd_menu ul" should fix it.

Thanks.

I think I don't need to solve that, when I fix the font sizes imminently it will move the tabs down a bit and won't then be impacted by the menus.

I've zoomed out one click in my browsers, kept feeling like I needed to move my eyes away from the monitors... (FF9/ArchLinux at home, FF13Nightly/W7 at work)

I should have a HP Touchpad by wednesday, already dualbooting the latest WebOS and CyanogenMod 9-alpha build of Android 4... Bit of a niche platform? Nav seems fine on stock Android 4 browser on my Galaxy S.

Can you widen the column for the titles of posts slightly, they're all along 2 lines now and it's harder to read.

Okay, anyone else noticed that with the new drop-down thing, it is quite difficult to be accurate to choose 'display all' from the classifieds tab?

On a galaxy s by the way, and my fingers aren't fat really, seems to be a problem with the 'hit box' for want of a better phrase. Keeps going to ebay thread or the site front page, no matter how far I zoom in

Just though I'd try WebOS on my Touchpad. Turns out the layout looks pretty good except that the WebOS browser has the same transparent bit in the comment/rep flight as the Android 4 browser.

I've also realised the Palm Sans font is fucking beautiful!

That is why web sites shouldn't override the fonts.

Would love to see what it looks like. Is it possible to screenshot on WebOS?
