| | You'll get a better price for your liver from the butchers, mate. SAme with lovely, lovely kidneys! Have a word with your butcher and see if they stock lung and heart - a secret combination that goes brilliantly with artichoke and a dash of wine. They might even give you the lung for free! |

| | And remember mussels are in season again. You can get a pint of mussels very cheaply (in the North, dunno about Londinium!) and they can be made sublime on a shoestring! I know it sounds a bit odd, but trust me, it's a brilliant mix. Here's a recipe: http://italianfood.about.com/od/lamb.../r/blr1671.htm |

| | Toms, as you well know, are too versatile to miss out. I always go canned when I'm skint though, I go canned when I'm flush too! Tinned toms are an ace stockpile - so glad to find the in the back of the cupboard when times are lean. I'm going through a *slightly* flush period at the mo and tins are being laid by for the next drought, believe me. |

| | Sumo and I spend less than £20 on food fortnightly. This is because we're too lazy to cook real food and are happy to live on peanut butter on toast and lmnh leftovers, with the occasional stir fry or pasta bake, but I'm subscribing to this thread in the hope of maybe one day being bothered enough to cook something nice that's also cheap. Although this will only happen if all the other housemates don't invade the kitchen all evening, use up all the cutlery then leave all their dirty pots and pans strewn everywhere. (not likely, so will probably continue to be an anti-social recluse, only venturing down after 10pm) |

It's a top way to get out of Christmas shopping, Alex. I heard that when they start privatising these health facilities they'll have you all stitching Gucci wallets and making t-shirts for Primark! I'll post my measurements! x | |

| | Work as a chef. Have a box of cereal in a cupboard and some milk in my fridge and that's it for the week. Even on my day off there's enough food left over from the day at work not to need to buy anything. Apart from Liquorice Allsorts. Gotta have me some Liquorice Allsorts. And beer... |

| | When I was a chef I was so broke (after spending all my wages on raves) that the only thing I had in my cupboard was plain flour left there by the landlord and some old spices and herbs on a dusty pine rack from ca. 1978. I'd eat my dinners at work, but as for night snacks I'd master the art of making all sort of dumplings and soups made of butter and mixed herbs. This is why my belly is mashed up now. This and drugs. |
