| | I'd like to see Lance sanctioned / punished legally and by the sporting bodies, if indeed he is guilty of the accusations. The worst possible scenario would be that after the inquiry he is widely viewed as having doped, trafficked and defrauded but no action is taken, what kind of message would that give? The trouble is although all these leaks are exciting we are already heading towards that without having any knowledge whatsoever of which way the investigation is swinging. As Americans might say "whatever it takes to get what you want" (for Horatio) |

| | Apparently Lance's lawyers wanted to enter into a "joint defence agreement" with Tyler http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/arms...-with-hamilton Last edited by winston; 25th May 2011 at 10:11. |

| | Martial Saugy, the current director of the renowned Swiss Anti-Doping laboratory in Lausanne, has confirmed that four of the urine samples taken at the 2001 Tour de Suisse were labeled "suspect" and that he later met with former US Postal sports director Johan Bruyneel and Lance Armstrong to discuss details of the early EPO test method. http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/swis...ame=0&ns_fee=0 |

| | Armstrong's attorney Tim Herman, however, recently said in a statement that "neither Armstrong or Bruyneel have any recollection of meeting [Saugy] for any purpose at any time," and "Armstrong was never informed by anyone in 2001 or any other time about either a positive or 'suspicious' test". |

| | These are strong accusations Armstrong is facing. Hamilton's 60 Minutes programme did seem a bit edited though. Here a link to a recent blog on the Armstrong case. http://thecyclinghub.blogspot.com/ |

| | Just a typical lawyer's non-denial denial. He can't come out and claim the meeting never took place, because somebody will prove that it did, but he can try to create a public impression that it didn't by making the non-disprovable claim that his client has no recollection of it. The lawyer isn't lying because he is only reporting his client's claim, and nobody can prove that Lance is lying about his recollection without reading his mind. I'm sure he'll suddenly |

the first attempted attack coming from French sports newspaper L’Equipe, who during 2005 reported an Armstrong urine sample from 1999 to have tested positive for the blood booster EPO. The validity of the rumour was never clear as the UCI stated that they had had no evidence of doping by Armstrong. would be a good place.

| | I suppose it depends on which side of the fence you sit on wiganwill. Although I am a bit of a Lance fan myself I still think he could have done it. I just hate the fact that people are so quick to put it all on Armstrong and other US postal team members when they come out and say "yeah I did drugs". By the way, the 1999 sample was never even proved to have existed by L'Equipe. But your entited to your own opinion on this article anyway. http://thecyclinghub.blogspot.com/ |

| | I am not sure what you mean by L'Equipe never having proved the sample existed. It did exist. The samples - there was more than one - did exist and they were proved to be Armstrongs. No one disputes that, including Armstrong. The only question is whether or not the test results were valid. As Michael Ashenden has pointed out, Armstrongs only defence is that the French lab somehow spiked them. No one has been able to explain how that would be possible. "The only other possibility than Armstrong injecting EPO was that the French lab deliberately spiked the samples. No one has ever given any plausible account for how that might have been accomplished. Spiking or injecting. They’re the only two possibilities. So essentially Mr Verbruggen is inferring that the Paris lab did precisely what the UCI denies is impossible for the Lausanne lab to have done – tamper with a test outcome.” http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/ashe...ng-allegations It's not really about opinion when it comes to the 1999 samples, it is about science. Notably, in this case where it was not just his word against someone else's, Armstrong did not sue. |

We do not need endless reposts of dull things like Lance riding with MASH, the squirrel photo, Danny Macaskill or similar. But if my fellow countrymen living in a bubble wish to discuss it, could they please create a new subforum for the purpose. Wales does have some good things - black beef etc.

| | "Lance Armstrong" is a business, within which there are many stakeholders, right now (OK they may well be asleep) those stakeholders will be discussing the best course of action, potential future scenarios, possible other leaks, and the likely outcome of the inquiry and any subsequent criminal trial. Damage limitation and cash flow forecasts will be drawn up for all the potential outcomes as well as second-guessing what public reaction will be to them. Numerous strategies will be discussed, one of these WILL be an admission from Lance, if it is deemed that, well managed, it will mean less dollars lost.....sorry I meant the great work of livestrong will be able to continue...then there is chance that they will take this course.
