| | 2011-06-25/26 ESCA National 24hr TT Champs http://www.esca24hour.org.uk/ I've entered. So far there's only about 30 other idiots signed up but there's still 2 weeks to enter. Since other people have asked about when it's on and where it is and since I'm tired of posting questions about it to multiple threads, here we are in our very own thread. Has anyone on here ridden a 24hr TT? I know there's some 24hr solo mtb'ers on here. Event HQ is at Berwick Village Hall, just north of Berwick (Sussex) Station: http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?ie=UTF...,0.027874&z=16 http://www.streetmap.co.uk/map.srf?X...7195&A=Y&Z=115 Those who want to help reapply my chamois cream, please form an orderly queue, no squabbling, you'll all get a chance.. National record: 525mi (845km) Club record: 459.070 (739km) |

| | shouldn't this be merged with the TT thread? http://www.lfgss.com/thread16289.html "Time Trial / Time Trialling / TT There's not a general thread (that I could find) about time trials and time trialling. Since it seems everyone is racing this year I'm guessing some of you will hit up the odd time trial. Discuss 'em here. " |

| | Thanks for the tip, wanker. Other forumites have expressed interest in heading to the event so I split it out. It's also quite a bit different to 10s and 25s that are mostly discussed in the TT thread. Also, there are already threads on here about other singular TT events. |

I won't be sleeping. Can't imagine anyone else would. My mate slept in his first mtb 24hr.. for about 8 hours!!! Ha. I think it will be more like waves of pain thresholds.. | |

| | Nice one for getting involved Hippy, it's an awesome event to ride. I rode the last '09 and '10 Mersey Roads 24s, and figure the best piece of advice I have is to break it up into manageable sections, whatever works best for you. I saw it as three lots of eight-hour rides, further snapped into two, 4-hour bite-size nuggets. For each of these sections (6) I had a musette with a different type of food, sort-of corresponding to breakfast/lunch/dinner. In each bag I had some 'psychological treats' like a brand new pair of socks to change into at 12 hrs (as if), different flavours of sweets, caffine shots, a can of Strongbow for the last one (fat chance), painkillers etc to reward myself after reaching certain stages. That way, it was much easier to handle inevitable changes of energy levels, respond accordingly and keep going forward. I'm currently easing off this summer after breaking my wrist earlier this season and awaiting a few ops, so I'm afraid I'm sitting this one out. I could put you in touch with a few mates who I'm sure will help support and cheer you on. Chapeau! |

| | Cheers Chopsicle, I remember watching your video of the event. I still don't know why I'm doing this.. :S I've got a support crew so I'm hopefully going to be able to request food/drink/painkillers/chamois cream as I need it and therefore carry a minimum with me. Hope you come back strong after your wrist is better. I've still got a few things to sort out but whatever happens it'll be something to tell the grandkids about.. oh wait.. after 24hrs in the saddle I probably won't be breeding.. ;) |

| | Been flat out with work and trying to sort stuff out and train for this. Thanks to prancer, Tom and Laura I now have London's largest collection of superduper (technical term) bicycle lighting. I keep failing at riding any of the course so I have a feeling it'll all bit a bit 'new' when I finally ride. I'd really like it if it wasn't pissing down for the whole day so if someone could sort that out.. that'd be grand. |
