Anyone riding this year?

I've just re-checked my entry, which says I have been entered for 'La Rando des Marmottes' (which I think is a way of doing the ride over 2 days and not what I actually entered - bit annoying). I'm going over with a few mates to ride anyway, but from my experience last year, trying to get any sense out of the Sport Communication people can be painful. Rather than waste time going into a protracted debate over what I entered and whether I can transfer my entry into La Marmotte proper, do you think it's viable for me to meet my friends just after the start in Bourg, and then ride round the route? Not sure how it would work at the end up Alpe D'Huez as from memory there are quite a lot of barriers funneling the riders to the finish line so might not be an easy exit for riders without a number...

Have you sent a medical certificate? I think you are entered as a randonneur until Sport Communication are in receipt of a valid medical certificate, then they change your entry.

Thanks - yep I still need to send my certificate in, but when I go to check my entry it comes up as:

"You must send your doctor's certificate /copies license to be able to appear in the classification failing this you ll be registered as RANDONNEUR.

so from the looks of things I've been entered into the 2 day event rather than the 1 day event - not sure whether they happen concurrently (would be helpful if they did then I wouldn't have an issue)

my gp refused to sign the standard medical certificate form. "...as an NHC practice, they dont sign such things...blah blah blah...how is he suppose to know if im fit or not...looking at my medical records does not give the overall piccture...blah blah blah." for him to sign a form (their own form and costs £15), he'll have to do a fitness test first. of course, because it's not a standard NHS treatment, it'll cost £60. felt a bit ambushed and got out of there as soon as

Fake it the letter. Or find a friendly doctor on here who'll do it for a pint.

I did the former when I first rode the Marmotte in 2002 (thanks to the inefficiencies of gastrobiking.com - who first asked me about my doctors letter as we arrived in Alpe d'Huez on the eve of the event) and got away with it.

They won't accept a British racing license as they are aware that, unlike most European federations, there is no medical assessment as part of the process of awarding a license.

And make sure there are absolutely no changes. Last year, someone corrected the dubious grammar on the English version of the cert, and it was rejected as "tampered."

Pretty sure I saw a fleeting glimpse of a LFGSS cap in Bourg Casino on Friday. I declined a DAS shout, as I don't know the French, but hope you had a good ride, whoever you are

Has anyone entered Marmotte for next year?

Website seems to be having problems in not recognising previous entries (so not sure how they're going to work out the 'seeding')
