London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

They are really hard to find. Wouldn't a Cokin A-P adaptor work for you, then buy the more common P filters?

Went to 5 places to get film developed between my office on Laystall Street and Shoreditch fire station – all closed down... Insane...

Ended up going to Rapid Eye on Leonard Street – 12 pounds for 1 roll of BW and scan to disc – REALLY nice guys and lovely little working studio/lab.

Sadly they couldn't take E6.

Went to Metro on Great Sutton Street – 20 quid + vat for 1 roll Provia 100 + scan to disc @7mb – I'm sure they're very good but it seems pretty expensive. They're clearly spending their profits on a big site and pro service for pro customers, something I'm... not. I think my days shooting colour slide film as a hobby could well be at an end..

I was at Darkside two weeks ago, don't tell me they've closed down...? Metro are snobs, it feels like your cash isn't good enough for them, they want pros with pro accounts...

i had 3 rolls of e6 done at Rapid Eye, though they send it somewhere. and it needs to be a couple of rolls to be worth it for them

Darkside, shut their doors last week apparently, same for B&D and a few more in the area. I'm still gutted after Panther shut down last year who I'd been going to for five or six years.

Shame I didn't wait then as I have another 2 rolls half way through in two different camera bodies at the moment of the same stock.

I could have been done by next Monday and sent all three of them there. I'd much rather give them the business than Metro. That said, Metro did seem apologetic when they told me it wouldn't be ready till tomorrow morning (which I consider very fast for E6 - I'm used to a 2/3 day turn-around)

It used to take under 2 hours. And they were open 24 hours a day.

but then i'm old enough to remember Joes basement, Ceta, Saints-E6 and my favourite Keishi.

We used to have our own small E6/C41 processing machine at an old photography studio I used to assist at. I forget what make it was. I often wonder what happened to it. Probably in a skip somewhere. *sigh*

Joe's Basement means something very different these days...

As am I. Joes Basement was essential to me, as I was a Scala user. I used to sometimes turn up there at 1 or 3 am, and it was lovely knowing they were open. Those were the days.

Digital is a step forward in many ways, but the losses along the way have been harsh.

Only snaps, as I've said earlier when talking about Metro. My knowledge is strictly amateur. I don't have the technical grasp in terms of metering and exposure to achieve consistently accurate (or however I intend) photographs but I enjoy taking them. It's just a shame it can be so prohibitively costly.

I've seen 7day shop and Fujilab - I was also recommended one by a colleague but I can't for the life of me remember what it was...

7dayshop is good, and cheap. Sometimes takes a while to come though.

Does anyone know of a lens fitting that is similar to M42 but not quite the same thread pitch? I have an old lens that screws into my Zenit about one turn but won't go any further - neither thread is damaged and my other lenses screw in fine. Also, according to the scale marked on the focusing ring reads from 3.5m - 30m - infinity, but in reality it won't focus on anything under under about 12m away - not very useful, it doesn't seem to be broken in any way, is this normal/to do with it not screwing in properly? The lens is an old Promura 135mm 1:3.5 lens, if that helps.

Sounds like its T-mount - is a 42mm thread but with a 0.75mm pitch rather than 1mm that m42 has - normally used for telescope mounts iirc

Never used them but £1.99 sounds like a bargin.

Before I ruin my lens by taking it apart and not getting it back together, has anyone got an automatic-to-manual stop down adapter? M42 fit - does such a thing exist?

It was really easy. All the guides on the internet said I had to go right down into the bowels of the lens, but I just took the rear cover off and unscrewed the little button part.

I could have guessed it was a T4 (or a Ricoh GR1) from those shots. I think it's the nice detailed (rather than high) contrast from those lenses.

Seems like a pretty well made wee thing, a bit more quality that your run of the mill compact.
Fixed 32mm f3.5 lens.
I've only just bought it but suspect it won't suit my style of shooting, I like to shoot with flash cancelled and one handed, to cancel the flash on this you have to press the button on the left hand end of the camera while you press the shutter so two handed basically.
I'm off to Estonia tomorrow for 4 days and I'm taking it as a back up but I'd be happy to shift on when I get back for what I paid for it which was a tenner.

Does anyone know of anywhere good to buy a plain white backdrop? Preferably within walking distance of Tottenham Court Road.

I've been asked to take some pictures for work that need one and they have offered to buy one that I can walk away with as payment. I was looking at a budget of around £80.

was just looking through some of my photos on flickr. Don't think i ever posted up this set, even though it is my favorite single roll i've ever taken.

I went out on the circle line on the last night of legal drinking on the Tube to take some photos a few years back. Turned out to be a pretty wild ride, with some very intersting characters along the way! None of the photos are tehcnically great, but they bring back fond memmories of a crazy adventure!

Hoops, that's a fucking great set of images on the underground. Some standout shots, but viewed as a whole it really tells a story.(except for the random 4x4 pron). Mad night, wish I'd have been there.
