London Fixed-gear and Single-speed

There has been a suggestion on the Cricket Thread that LFGSS field a cricket team for to play a few matches this summer. Seems we have a selection of players from a variety of cricketing nations who would be up for this. We also have also a couple of ideas for fixtures and could organise an LFGSS in house match if we had enough people for 2 teams.

I haven't played for years. I used to play for Middlesex, London Schools, club and school when I was younger. Cricket was pretty much my whole life until I discovered drugs and girls :)

2 sets of everything - practice kit, and playing kit. No balls, but 2 pairs of jock straps...

Hopefully they'll be sorted by summer (The first granny smith will be the real tester!) judging by the list so far beamers not bouncers will be my main worry! :P

p.s I do have a helmet, but that's proper keeno !

I have a never used only knocked in Woodworm bat, that set me back 280, but I just love my big old Kookaburra too much so have never used it. Plus only every netted at uni, and didn't get to play last summer due to golf and work!

I'm not known for high scoring, but I can protect my wicket, perfect endless test player, give me a week to get my eye in and I might start scoring.

My off spin is ok, I get the odd wicket, though I also get hit around the park a lot.

I can also bowl fast in theory, just can't be bothered.

I used to keep wicket a long time ago, not done it in about 10 years, happy to give it a go again.

Used to play in the middlesex league, now play one game a year for an Oxford college (long story).

i'm not much good but i'm keen and i can bowl 6 legal, nonwide deliveries in a row! :-)

I can bowl one killer and 4 get-awayable balls and one howler. On average. But I can bowl Leg break and medium pace in the same over.

All rounder really. I could probably bowl some off spin, but nothing with pace.

I'll come to bat- though I need some serious net time, literally haven't played for 9 years or so. Probably a better fielder now than I was then though!

I've never really played cricket, but I reckon I'd be pretty OK with some practise.

There is a pitch in Victoria Park, I imagine it's in use at weekends though

They also have the victoria park cricket league which is an 8 player a side 16 over match played from 6:15 mon-thurs. Looks like it would be a laugh.
