a Hipster is someone who has latched onto a fad/style etc just as it has left the underground and entered the mainstream, thus giving the impressions to the wider world (and strongly believing that hey themselves are) that he/she is at the cutting edge, whilst in reality those pushing the envelope have moved on to pastures new

There are tons of new looks emerging. People don't sit down at the beginning of rocking a look & thrash out a defining name for it, so it's very easy & lazy to bundle them all into the 'h' catagory.
