Old Street Fixie Nodder

Riding some sort of fluorescent componentised bike. If you are on here LOOK WHERE YOU ARE FUCKING GOING before jumping a red. And take your fucking ipod off so you can here me scream at you. I don't want to have a whole season of winter training ruined by someone like you. Thanks.

God I hate it when the weather improves sometimes

For a couple of mornings in each of the last few weeks I have been running the 4 miles to work.

As my fitness improves, I hope to dispense with my bicycle all together for the duration of the nodder season.

See you on the pavement.

I've said it before and I'm saying it again; this forum does not really want the number of cyclists in London to increase. It pays lip service to the idea but it doesn't really mean it.

i wouldn't have a problem with an increase in cyclists that ride well maintained bikes responsibly. which i suppose rules out a lot of the forum.

Of course not. What we want is for the relative proportion of cyclists to increase. Which can be achieved much more easily by DESTROYING ALL CARS. Or something.

I don't think this forum could agree on anything, never mind this. But there is a definite sense of exclusivity here. Personally I like seeing new people cycling, I just wish some of them realised how dangerous they were to themselves and others and considered some training before they started commuting to work.

I'm very tempted to get all the qualified cycle instructors on here to make up business cards that I can distribute to people who need training but fear that would piss them off.

Low pro's rarely interest me but one that is illegal under cites is so much more appealing

the more cyclists there are probaly means less cars on the roads and a heightened awareness of cyclists - the net benefit is far greater than the frustration caused by the odd nodder

I'm all for more cyclists - nodders, mary poppinses, sock 'n' sandal beardy recumbents, fixie-hipster-skidders, wheelie yoots, even bromptonengers. The more the merrier.

I don't particularly want to commute with them all every day, though happily they mostly seem to pack themselves onto the superhighways and go red in the face pushing mahossive gears while the backstreets are same as ever.

Would much rather commute with these than cars, van drivers, lgv's etc.

Saw a man undercut a turning gas-gusler at lunch, I shouted out to him as I thought he was going to get squished, but the car stopped.
Would he appreciate a business card underlining the fact that he can't cycle?

Can we also get some stickers that say 'BAD FUCKING DRIVER' to stick on vehicles as they cut us up?

After riding on the Skyride a few months back, I can safely say i'd rather cycle alongside motorised vehicles than cyclists, cyclists are much more unpredictable in large numbers.

You couldn't fit that many cars on the same stretch of road.
You don't generally have 4 year old kids driving cars.
They hurt a lot less when they do make a mistake and wobble towards you.

I'd prefer the cyclists any day.

That would explain why I sometime find difficult to make eye contact with drivers.

You're right on those 3 points. But on average, I find drivers to be more responsible than cycists on the roads.

Yeah? Most drivers think they're much better than they are. The same goes for cyclists. The difference is, car drivers can't just jump into a car without any prior training and just drive wherever and however they want.
