Guy locks it up like this most days, I'm surprised he still has it as that is the only lock.

I'm confused. That's gotta be on purpose. No person with a single cognitive cell would lock their bike like that...
The effort alone...
Then again....

I struggle to believe that some of these are real, even if you're not going to lock it properly how could someone lock the green State like that? It's more difficult to miss the frame with the D lock.

I regularly leave my bike locked like this around Manchester.

Hasnt been stolen yet, I'm either really lucky or my attempt at building a bike not worth stealing was successful.

Probably a good second lock with a D round the frame and front wheel.

iPhone batteries are awful, how do I know if my bike is being stolen if it's out of battery and my bike is only protected by a simple cable lock?

There was a break in about 5 doors down from my house roughly a week ago and the only reason they found the house had been broken into was because the alarm was going off and someone called the police.

Also getting tired of the whole 'compatible with your smartphone!' on every kickstarter page. If it can be engineered to lock wirelessly it can be unlocked exactly the same way.

The lock will still work if your phone runs out of battery and it has a loud alarm built in, it'll also be unlockable with a keyfob type thing. I wouldn't use it as a main lock but it'd be good as a secondary one.

You can locate, share, borrow and lend bikes.. So all it takes is some bright spark to write an app that picks up all these GPS signals and 'borrows' the bike and they have a map of all of the bikes in the area that are expensive enough to merit a GPS enables alarm and lock...
