2010-04-10 Sat - The London Tweed Run 2

Ladies. Gentlemen. What-ho! Announcing the second annual Tweed Run, a metropolitan bicycle ride with a bit of style.

We'll be setting off from Central London at midday, on a 12 mile route passing the Tate Britain, Big Ben, Buckingham Palace (no word yet on if ma'am will be joining us), Savile Row, stopping off in the park for a spot of tea in Kensington Gardens, St Paul's and ending with a bit of a knees-up in the City of London (near Bishopsgate).

Now look here, proper attire is expected. Tweed suits, plus fours, bowties, cycling capes, and jaunty flat caps are all encouraged. I hate to be a bore but please, no beastly denim. There are no rules regarding cycles, though we'll be dusting off our vintage lugged steel collection for the ride. Prizes awarded for best vintage bicycle, and best decorated bicycle.

The ride is, of course, free of charge. Due to talks with the constabulary, we're limiting the registration to 400 of you blighters. It's a bit of rot. Registration opens on 27 February 2010 on our website (www.tweedrun.com).

Do bring a few bob, my man be selling spoke cards/raffle tickets to benefit Bikes4Africa again this year.

There'll be more announcements as the day gets closer. I do hope you can make it.

Will the final stop be anywhere near a Sam Smith's public house? I'm partial to their oatmeal porter (technically a stout, but that sounds oafish).

This thread is for all of the announcements and stuff, and to make it useful please post the chit chat and tweed acquiring stratagem in the discussion thread over here: http://www.lfgss.com/thread36664.html

Looks to be an absolutely awesome day though, can't wait to see what has been planned.

the final stop won't be a sam smiths's. but it's a beautiful venue. and hendrick's gin will again be on hand, graciously offering free gin and tonics at the end of the ride.

Been growing my whiskers for a month now, not sure which way to fashion them yet. Just fully read Teddy's bit, that's twice as many riders as last year, but that got a hell of a lot of exposure. I'm sure there will a huge interest and great deal more than 400 will want to go. It'll be a bit like booking tickets for Glastonbury

Might I suggest a fine brandy, or a calvados, always winners on a spring ride. PSP2 would be sensible but that would be sacrilege.
