London Fixed-gear and Single-speed SJS Cycles

Hi
I have read many article regarding the french derailleur Simplex SLJ 5500.
I just wanted to have opinion .
I have the choice between the simplex 55oo or a 1980's dura ace derailleur.

Are they equivalent ?
Is it just a aesthetic preference?
