OK here goes: One last attempt at starting ONE thread for London CM.

Maybe we can agree on a meet spot for anyone here to end up at ... ? I thought the Black Friar was pretty nice, lots of room, railings, good pints...

Is CM any good? A mate keeps trying to persuade me to go but I haven't actually turned up yet...

Good trackstanding practice. Good for looking at bikes, nice, beaterish, wierd and wonderful. Some people are extremely sociable so its a nice way to ride and chat to people, a bit like the way that is normal to dutch people.

It depends on what you expect. I always enjoy it, some people here HATE it, and will either ignore this thread or attempt to derail it.

If you came along and hated it, you could ride off into the sunset whenever you fancied it. It sort of falls apart around 8.30 or 9 anyway. Apparently there's some talk that people end up at the Foundry for a pint, but I've never been there for that.

I've been on one before and it was really fun.
Do a lot of them fluctuate in size? I could imagine a poorly attended critical mass wouldn't really work properly.

Yes, I imagine they do vary somewhat, but not so much that it'd affect the ability of the Mass to stay together I don't think. After all,

Yep, there's a 'stone circle' (a sort of circular sculptural feature) that serves as a meeting point for any waifs and strays from here just east of underneath Waterloo Bridge.

No I'm the thread starter! I get sick of so many threads, I tried to start this last month but it got wiped by the backupgate fiasco.

PS why, are you the organiser? Do you know who is? I want to ask them what the route is going to be this month, I want to go past HMV to pick up a DVD ... :P

The route is completly random, it just goes wth the flow and whovever is at the front...

I haven't been on a CM since Boxing Day last year and cannot go this month. Next month it will be on Christmas Day or not at all. I rather enjoyed it as a gentle social ride meeting all sorts of different cyclists. It was on CM that I first had a lengthy chat to Oliver S. It is nicer in the summer.

What are the attendances like now? Is there still no policing? Is it calmer than it was when the police first stopped coming?

On the CM website it says it starts at 6pm... is this correct? cos Skully said 7pm

it starts a 6, but doesnt leave till about half past 6.
@Cliveo: It is usually pretty calm, any agrro usually caused by wanker taxi drivers and yes, the cops dont come along any more.

am in school all day friday doing activities so wont be up for train ride rush this time. am saving trip for next weekend-theres heaps of rides coming from all over the country because of Copenhagen, so have friends to meet up with.havent found out times and stuff yet but all details will emerge soon no doubt.

i wanna come along but i dont have brakes or straps 0.0, my bike is a deathtrap on wheels...

the best bike in the world is only as good as the rider on it imo.
