Can't believe that nobody's done this yet....

Sounds to me like you don't know your arse from your elbow.

Sorry, I'll get my coat.

I broke mine in 5 places and had it pinned. 2 days later I was back on the bike.

My advice to you would be get on the bike and ride, if it hurts get off, if it doesn't stay on and try not to crash.

Motorcycle crash a decade ago resulted in shattered patella and questionably broken wrist. It was never confirmed, but I broke that wrist - without doubt. It never had a plaster cast (or fibreglass) and to this day I don't have full movement in the wrist and I can tell you with a combination of aches and pains in both knee and wrist what the weather will be like. So I'm slightly better off than those cretins at the Met Office, but have some issues with my right wrist and knee.

If you have plaster of paris then don't ride. Even riding one-handed you'll still rest on the bars and your plaster will crumble and end up looking like a wizards sleeve. If you've the slightly more costly fibreglass - it does hold up up to slightly more abuse, but the sound of the bone clicking/cracking/splintering will make you physically sick if you have a slight mishap whilst on your travels.

BTW - I'd probably be more worried about the smell when the cast comes off. Thank your lucky stars it's not summer. The smell is like a combination of death and the central line in summer.
