| | You don't always need them, screw the bolts out so there's only 3/4 threads left and hit the top of the bolt with a hammer till the axle pushes through a 1/2" or so. Spray in a bit of WD40, give them a wiggle and the cranks normally come off. If you've got a longer bolt that fits, that will let you get the axle further through. I've just had a look in my toolbox and found 2 of the little bastards. I'm pretty sure this is a legit way of taking your cranks off as you don't use the collar to take off your cranks just the long bolt. Still I wouldn't go ape, just lots of sharp hits. If they were put on with coppaslip and haven't been sitting out in the rain for the last year you'll be right. |
