Fixing quill pedals

Hi all

I did a UTFS and found nothing so apols if it's been discussed before elsewhere.

I have a lovely pair of quill pedals, but i managed to break one of them last night and i need some advice as to how (or if) i can fix it.

The pedals in the attached pic aren't mine, but used to illustrate the problem - the cage has popped off the little plug in the red circle, leaving the cage on one pedal hanging half-off. I can poke it back in, but it just pops out again and i can't work out how the cage is secured to the pedal. The pedal in the picture looks like it's riveted into place, but mine are just flush with the outer face of the cage.

Any thoughts?

Cheers

maybe some sort of metal glue would work

a pic of yours would help?
maybe the cage is countersunk so it can be riveted and look flat, or you could countersink it yourself and rivet with a centrepunch

when you push cage on you should have some of the (i'm a carpenter so bear with me) tenon sticking through the mortice(peg type part poking through the hole)enough that you can flatten it/spread it wider than hole with a punch or even an old screwdriver. If you have'nt you could file down the shoulders with a flat needle file to achieve a longer "tenon" hope this helps, though if you're not a diy nerd it may not

When I last went to Tour De Ville there was a guy there with the same problem. Might be worth checking them out.

Carefully drill out the old rivet head. Drill into the quill body with an appropriately sized drill bit. Tap for appropriately sized screw.
