I found the list below on the xda developers forum when the update first surfaced. Most of the changes seem to be bug fixes, but I like that changes to birthdays now actually synchronise with Google contacts and also being able to see the number of texts in each 'conversation' in the SMS inbox.

Just waiting for Froyo now!

- Updates bootloader to 0.80
- New radio image
- New youtube app with HQ option (1.6.20E).
- Fixed htc's weather widget (integrated into clock&weather widget) not knowing where you are (1.15.xxx just said the name of the country in some countries).
- SMS issue (from non-numerical senders) is resolved.
- fixed random contact showing when receiving operator SMS.
- fixes the voicemail bug for the French carrier SFR (short voicemail number used to call 911/emergency).
- Messages app now shows a count on the number of messages in the SMS inbox.
- calendar/contacts bug - unable to store contact's birthday - has been fixed.
- Long click on the menu button when in home screen now doesnt pop up the keyboard, like it uselessly did before.
- SMS reader does not show the little smiley androids any more - just the mere types.
- Exchange Company Address Book is now properly working. Was unable to use before the update.
- They have disabled the snooze function on the Optical trackpad for calendar events. This means that it is now possible to have the phone in your pocket without accidentally snoozing the alarms.

The excellent Samsung Galaxy Pro S has been launched in the USA as the Samsung Epic 4G.
Sadly, Samsung say that there are no plans to bring it here to the UK. No 4G network here as yet, so we'll wait till at least a year or two from now to experience 4G speeds. Oh well....

But the Motorola Charm is on its way here, to provide competiton to Blackberry, or to target social networking sites power users.

Pure Messenger is a new way to sms or email directly from the home screen. Its a paid-for app, but its cheap at just over a dollar, so less that a pound. It looks really promising.

Lies. It is about 9 months old. The dev is on xda and I helped [read gave constructive criticism] whilst it was first being made.
Awesome app though :)

Pure cal is the best calendar widget as well, also by the same dev. He does really good work

What's the fastest browser for Android at the moment?
Having just installed and tried Opera Mini 5 Beta it seems quite a bit faster than the stock one.

I don't install apps for 'fun' ('cept that Vuvuzela thing but I 'needed' that ;)). I install them if I need them. The other day the stock browser slowed to fuck so I had a quick look for alternatives. Now I'm asking about other alternatives so I can settle on one.

Dolphin HD was very good, but I uninstalled it, as I wanted more space for games. The standard browser is not bad, but memory is so limited at the moment, that I'll wait for Froyo before installing (again) something better. Skyfire should be good, but I predict it being very slow.
Though for phones that will never get the Froyo update, its an option for having Flash run on web pages.

To be honest, I've used Skyfire on Symbian, and it was so incredibly slow, that I hardly used it at all. I await Fennec, but am not very excited.

Skyfire seemed to get some good reviews on other sites but not in the market place which turned me off it. If it's slow I'm not interested.

What didn't you like about the stock browser? It had worked totally fine for me up until a trip to the beach in a car Sat when it started taking ages to load anything - even when other network apps were fine. Does it get lower priority for bandwidth or something? Odd.

I didnt like how slow the stock one was as well, and having used the beta one on the Nokia 5800, I decided I needed it back again on the X10

Has anyone had problems with the Desire not reading SD cards? Like you can't view your videos/photos or listen to music. I have to keep removing the memory card then putting it in again and It's a right pain.

Just a question are you guys using the memory card which came with the phone as there was a dodgy batch of cards from what I've read.

I'll try out the card in my G1 tonight and let you know.

Don't remember, sorry. I have a bunch of Mini-SD cards lying around now. I would have put in whichever one I have/received that is biggest.

I had that with the Samsung i7500 once when I had a new card.
Not with the Desire though. Fixed when the new card was formatted.

IrfanView for your PC, but I think it might be a while yet till a panorama app is on Android........Unless of course one of the present editing apps get panorama stitching as an upgrade. It's possible, especially for FX.

I've just had a look, and there's a guy that goes by the forum name BRATAG, who is the coder for snapphoto. He says he'll write a panorama upgrade for it, and he'll announce when its ready.

Well the final (release) build of 2.2 is out now. Installed it this morning on my nexus (was running FR83 before). Works great, although I can't see any real differences between it and the pre-releases.

Still not had a real reason to root/custom rom the N1. I'm running an extended battery pack (3200) so I don't have to panic about charging every day ;)
