Putting some decent mud room in there would not have ruined the aesthetics of the bike, infact quite the opposite imo because as soon as i look at that bike i see tight clearances which will clog up real quick and so it looks like a bike that will not work. Apart from the mudroom issue id also be worried about riding a rigid large wheeled bike offroad if there was that little room for the wheel to get out of true. Give one of those wheels a bit of a knock on a fast descent and by the time you've reached the bottom of the hill you'll be halfway through a chainstay.

![]() I thought Matt chester had stopped making frames now? I'm guessing it's just an older one with a vicious cycles/jones fat fork on? I always liked Matt chesters approach to fixed off road bikes.

Finally, and most importantly, Vivalo aren't NJS. When they had their status withdrawn it applied retroactively. Basically, the NJS parts of this bike are the headset, bottom bracket and stem. Perhaps the pedals too. Oh, and if it's a Dura-Ace lockring that will be NJS. Anyway, why waste your time building up a bike as NJS? There is no point in doing it, other than for the sake of it.

| | They might actually be WTB dirt drop bars...difficult to tell from that angle but the top straight section doesn't look quite wide enough for midges...and also Matt Chester used WTB bars all the time before the midges were available. Of course they could be midges still....like i say, hard to tell from that angle. |

I'm not going to run 80"+, brakeless, with tubs on the road. Certainly not in the winter, with my unsealed, non-cartridge bearing hubs/headset/bottom bracket. And I'm sure as hell not going to give up the security of clipless pedals on the track, only maintain my bike with the NJS tool kits (they exist), etc, just to prove a point. Oh, and as for liking the colours, you can forget that for a start. If it isn't silver, it isn't NJS (with the exception of Dura-Ace lockrings, which are black).

p.s. You forgot chains too. I think that there is only one silver NJS chain, the rest are black.
